Hi! These are my workshops.

All workshops can be customized to the needs of your group. If you’re looking for a workshop topic other than the ones below, please  let me know.

The workshops are split into three levels:

  • Open for everyone: No experience required.

  • Beginner: Have taken a workshop or a beginners class, knows the concepts of yes and etc.

  • Intermediate: Have taken more workshops or classes, played a show or three

  • Experienced: Played several shows, on teams, might be teaching as well

 

All workshops can be accommodated to mixed groups with various experience. I usually prefer min. 8 participants, max 16 for all workshops, but I’m flexible.

Cool Characters Made Easy

Cool characters are fun to play with and a great tool to make life on stage easier. In addition, being able to play anyone or anything is a freedom only improv can provide!

This workshop will provide you with tools and tricks to build unique characters on the fly, and help you help others build theirs.

 

A good character can be recycled forever. Let this workshop help you find a few

Instant Initiations

Judging your own ideas? Are you usually waiting for your partner to make the first move? Does your scenes take 30 seconds to start?

Initiations and agreeing from the top can be hard, but it gets you there quicker!

 

In this workshop you'll learn how to trust your first idea or impulse, whatever it is, and learn that it is always right. Always! You'll also learn to worry less about the who, what where, you might not need it at all.

Advancing The Scene

Scenes and scene work can sometimes feel like walking in glue, when you should be having the best time of your life. Improv is all about exploration, discovery and having fun, together!

 

This workshop will take you through various ways of effortlessly pushing a scene forward, without worrying about plot, narrative, relationship, environment etc. Again, let's make our world easier and more fun!

Introduction to Longform Improvisatoon

Longform improv, also known as organic improv, is less about rules and more about exploration. Where shortform provides a director and game rules, longform removes the director completely and let the group mind figure out what the journey is and where it's going. There is only one mind, and that is the one of the group mind. If your improv experience is shortform, let this workshop show you what's behind door number two! (Hint: It's a whole new world!)

Enough With The F*cking Questions Already!

Questions can stop scenes moving forward, not to mention it can be selfish. If your question is not supporting the scene they're forcing your partner to make decisions for you, when what you should be doing is making your partner look good on stage.

 

This workshop will train you to better take care of yourself and your partner by avoiding all those unnecessary questions!

The Harold -

An Introduction

The Harold is the signature form of Chicago’s iO Theater, and consist of an opening, various beats and group games. Done right it’s magical, but it takes practice and understanding of the ideas behind the format.

 

This workshop will take you through the basic structure and how to create a 45 min show based on one single suggestion from the audience.

The Armando -

An Introduction

The Armando opens with a monologue and is followed by scenes inspired by the content of the monologue. But what’s in a monologue, and how do we find inspiration to play in the scenes?

 

This workshop will provide you with easy and fun monologue exercises, train you to find inspiration and ideas not to mention showing them to your scene partner in a clear and obvious way.

Can We Have A Suggestion?

A lot of improvisation begins with a suggestion from the audience, but do we honor the suggestion we get? Or do we honor it too much? And how do we play a 45 min set from one simple idea?


This workshop will teach you 1) different ways of asking the audience for suggestions 2) how to draw inspiration from it and 3) how to honor the suggestion and build a whole show from it

The Improv Tool Belt

Every time you walk on stage you’re wearing an invisible tool belt filled with various improv tools. Some tools are adaptable, while others should be employed "only for their intended purpose".

 

This workshop will provide more tools for your improv tool belt in the form of simple tips and tricks (‘cheats’) designed to push things forward when you feel stuck or lost in a scene.

 

Duration: 3 hours

Improv Summer School

A fun and basic introduction to improvised theater, for those with some or no experience with theater or improv theater.

 

Improv theater is super fun and something everyone can learn! No experience needed, the improv school is suitable for all, regardless of age and experience.

 

The curriculum provides a thorough introduction to the basic improv techniques and tools that will let you create fun, sad and magic scenes together.

 

The intentions of the course is to provide a fun introduction within a safe framework and in an inclusive manner, meaning no-one will be forced to perform for each other.

 

Duration: 5 days á 6 hours

The  Show Tool Belt

Various Intensives

Various two day intensives:

Impro for Beginners, Level 2 and Level 3

 

A fun and safe introduction to improv theater, for those who have little or no experience with drama and theater. The course focus on the basics philosophies of improv and some of the tools that improv provides to create stories, build scenes etc. No one will have to perform in front of the others in this course. Also known as Level 1

 

Duration: 2 days á 5 hours
